Guys - in reading this thread, I confess I don’t even KNOW what some of this stuff is! I’ll eat almost anything (I have eaten street food in SW Saudi Arabia - mystery meat) but do have a few dislikes: raw fish, raw eel, menudo, cilantro, brains.
Does cilantro not taste like soap to you anymore, or did you learn to enjoy it, soapiness and all?
It doesn’t taste like soap anymore. I love it!
My son will eat tomato sauce til I swear he’ll burst at the seams but he will be violently ill if he eats raw tomatoes…doctor says its a legitimate ans fairly common sensitivity…heat destroys the compound that he cant digest.
My friend is the same with cilantro - physically sick if it’s raw but is fine with it cooked.
Funny that
I’m opposite.
Veges are fine but I can’t handle the texture of raw cheese
My favorite veggie!
I like to sub celery tops for it for friends of mine that don’t like it. So I get pissed when there’s no tops on celery.
I hope you have it beaten, and are well now.
Thank you. I have survived, but badly beaten…never got back to “normal”
I understand completely as in the last 15 years I have twice skated close to eternity from something entirely different from you, and will never get back to “normal”.
I dislike hazelnuts as well, so don’t feel alone. And I’ve gotten some shocked looks upon saying that I can’t stand Nutella.
My dad really liked limburger cheese, and would keep it in a closed glass jar.
It has devolved into sort an 'old fart delicacy" around here. I only know one cheese factory that makes it.
Are you in Wisconsin? My dad was from West Allis.
If your dad is anywhere near 53 YOA and played football, baseball or wrestled, there’s a good chance we locked horns. WA Central and Nathan Hale were in my conference. I’m from South MIlwaukee, originally. I live by a friend who graduated Hale, but younger than I am (we now live 3 hours from Milwaukee, in the driftless coulee region of w.central WI.) I know a shtton of West Allisians.
Of coarse, I work in a jail, and West Allis and corrections have grown to be synonymous. ( I kid) Whether your dad was bulldog or husky, I’m sure he turned out.
LOL my dad would be way over 100 if he was still with us, and sadly, I don’t know where he went to high school.
When I think of West Allis I think of my dad and also Jeffrey Dahmer, unfortunately.
I used to work very near Dahmer’s home. Had a supervisor who, any time we went out on a job, HAD to pass the feckin’ place, every time.
If he’d be in his 100s, there’s a chance he went to the now defunct, disappeared West MIlwaukee HS. A friend of mine owns a great pub in West Allis, so I get there now and again. Few places have dives like that anymore.
