I haven’t been since 2007 (because I love in Japan now), but the onion rings at Lucky Boy on Arroyo Pkwy in Pasadena are still the best I’ve ever had. Their burgers are fine and while a gut bomb, I love their breakfast burritos, but as hard as I’ve tried,

I’ve never found better onion rings. BTW, onion rings are not very common in Japan and sadly tend to be batter/tempura style…which isn’t my preference.

And more than once I’ve been to parties where I’ve bitten into what I thought was an onion ring and it turned out to be breaded, fried squid, I like breaded, fried squid, but my mouth and brain were expecting onion rings, so it was a stick.

I won’t miss Andersen’s Pea Soup in Buellton. The soup was good but their much touted onion bread made me think it might be a Wonder onion bread. And you can still get the soup in a ca. Or better yet make it your self. It requires no cooking talent.
