How's the weather wherever you are?

Wet wet and more wet. Getting a bit monotonous. Should start letting up by Tuesday, though.

Luckily for me and my neighbors, all of the western and central Montana watersheds are over average for the Water Year index, and most are 20% or more over. This a happy exception to the rule this past 45 years since it has been fairly dry for the most part.
Flathead Lake (Clark Fork/Columbia River watershed) is full pool this January which is unusually high.
I believe it is a bit dryer to the east of Montana in the Missouri/Mississippi watershed, but still decent. Fort Peck Reservoir is halfway between record low and full pool which is good since it has to have room for the spring melt.

Evidently we’re in the midst (“mist” har har) of freezing fog. WTF?

TL,dr: Wow, snow AND really friggin cold.

After cooking for 12 hours yesterday, I packed up my car and sped home at 9 PM to beat the incoming snow. I needed to not get snowed in at my brother’s, because that would mean my mom would be alone in her house under the expected foot of snow. The highway was almost eerily empty, and my 10 PM final grocery store stop also had big “calm before the storm” vibes. There were leftover perfectly ripe avocados from the party, so I needed limes and chips :slight_smile:

I made it back in record time and unpacked and tried to sleep (failed), then woke up this morning to the expected snowfall. I forced myself out to clear a space for the dog to pee and do the first pass of shoveling. It’s snowing hard enough that i needed to go over it again before coming in, but I didn’t want to wait for it to be so heavy I hurt myself shoveling it.

I have another brother outside Atlanta and I’m really worried about his losing power today :grimacing:

These pictures were taken only a couple of hours into the snow storm, with over 12 more hours of snow and sleet expected :grimacing:

It’s much prettier when you’re above it. Over the last two weeks or more, I think we’ve seen the sun probably a total of 5-6 hours. Other than that: gray, gray, gray.

I haven’t seen it like this in a very long time! This is where Google says I was flying over.

And it’s still snowing :cold_face::sob::sob:
