Greater Toronto Closures of 2026 [Greater Toronto Area] [Toronto]

I have not been to any Chuck’s yet. It’s the same corporation as Crabby Dick’s . I don’t really have a problem with the concept of trying to offer a cheap steak, sort of the same idea as Ponderosa way back when.

Our neighbour, who was widowed a year ago, went to stay at Langdon Hall in Cambridge with her adult daughter.

She and her late husband used to really enjoy Langdon Hall, and they would stay there a couple weekends each year, dining in the dining room. They also visited France each spring for close to 20 years. She’s a good home cook and baker, and I know she likes the same Japanese and Chinese restaurants I like. I think our food tastes are fairly closely aligned.

Well, on this last 2 night visit with her daughter in 2025, they found their meal the first night to be ho hum and expensive for what it was. They decided not to dine there the 2nd night . So they went to Chuck’s in Cambridge, and they liked what they ordered. Our neighbour gets the steak and lobster tail. (I asked)

That said, Chuck’s is everywhere. Listowel. Lucan. Grand Bend. LOL. It also took over the old McGinnis Landing space in West London, ON.

Bier Markt on the Esplanade is closed - not too surprised as they never really recovered from the pandemic.

my friend dated the owner about 15 years ago, I’ll have to let her know

It looks like Jumbo Empanadas closed after a 29 year run, possibly due to a rent hike, according to Reddit.

Oh no. I’ve been patronizing her since she had a cart outside the egg store long ago.

OK, so it’s not closed yet, just likely to close. I’ll have to prioritize going for a last fix and to say my thanks.

All her stuff is great, the empanadas, the corn pie.

I am glad she owns the building, and wasn’t pushed out because she could not make rent.

Tough times ahead.

Darn it’s pay walled. Probably on tomorrow’s print edition.

Thank you for heads up!

My friend sent me the gift link but I guess the Star gift link doesn’t work on websites. Sorry!

You might be able to read it off Karon Liu’s tweet, if you’re logged in to Twitter. I’ll send it by DM.

Thanks for trying. It’s strange that gift kinks don’t work on web. I’ve never had that problems with NYT gift links. Im sure it will be in tomorrows print edition. I can read on PressReader. .
