GOOD EATS NYC 2025 — Where & what did you eat?

Funny you should mention. Our server warned me that there were noodles in the soondubu, and thus to eat the rice last.

BCD Tofu is better, but this is closer, so…

I don’t recall every having it with noodles. I’ve made it with pork, though.

Me neither. It was weird. I was also told to break the egg into the bowl (I knew that part) and then drape the noodles over it so that it would cook (I did not know that part).

More KISA

The menu is small at lunch, and they were sold out of the pork stew, which was probably better for me in the end, because the Katsu I ate was too much without the added soup element!

I really liked the macaroni & potato salad side as well as the classic cabbage salad accompaniment, and they gave me the banchan too, of which the radish was the best, and the chives and gochujang a nice foil for the Katsu. The curry was a bit sweet and sour for my liking (maybe a Korean flavor adaptation, as I don’t remember it being sweet at katsuhama).

I would gladly go back for dinner, which is totally different in both mains and banchan.

(Action shots of @small_h applying the server’s“pro tip” to quick-cook the egg by covering it with the hidden noodles.)

Grabbed a couple jianbing from Jian Bing Man in a food court in K-town. We eat there once a year or so, simply because we are rarely around that area. Somehow forgot that the base selections don’t have meat in them (says “extra protein” in step 3 of the menu), so the taste was good but could have been better.

Apparently there will be a v3.0 :crossed_fingers:t2:

Sicily Osteria, theater district

Yes, I think Gotham West Market closed at the end of the year. Andrew told me he’ll look for a new space.

L’Express in Gramercy - Better 30 years later than never. I figured by now it should be aged very well, and it did. Really impressed with just about everything. Steak Frites much better value than Raoul’s, and almost just as good. Excellent Escargot. Duck Cassoulet sent me straight to… Staten Island. There used to be a French place near the ferry that had great Cassoulet. Short Rib Bourguignon, exactly what you expect if you had it at such places. The P.E.I Moules-Frites were average, and the olive puree didn’t quite compliment the crispy goat cheese well, but that’s just minor. New Israeli chef worked at Gramercy Tavern, Bouley, and Payard. Packed house on a Tuesday night

I took the Steak Frites pic under much duress. It’s a fairly good size (14 oz New York Strip) with Au Poivre on the side

This is where I bring unadventurous eaters (like my friend whose kid won’t eat anything green). I can still get decent food and they can eat an omelet or whatever.

That was our circumstances as well. Needed something simple, preferably French for our guest.

Never exciting yet always reliable, whatever the time of day or night :joy:

I guess they stopped being 24h a while back (is anywhere anymore?) but 4am on weekends.

Empanada Mama on 9th says they are 24-hour, but I can’t vouch for them past midnight. They’re not a “proper” sit-down place, of course.

The Taco Bell on 6th & 36th. Or so says the sign in the window (we were just there yesterday, post-march).

Ah the Cantina at that location. The one on 8th near 51st is also open 24hrs.

Probably the one on B’way in Times Square also. Not that I’ve had occasion to go to a Taco Bell in the middle of the night, but it’s good to have options, I guess.

There are some McDonald’s open 24 hours.

Edited to add: Oops! I should have directed this to @Saregama.

Also Coppelia.

I do appreciate folks offering up McD’s and Taco Bell as options :joy:

I did a quick scan for Manhattan, and here are a few more:

and a bunch of diners
