Lucia pizza has expanded to the ues, lines out the door most days, no wait today, broke my one meal a day regimen to give their vodka slice a try. Unfortunately, the sum was less than the parts. As one can see from the open crumb structure, they get a fabulous bake from what I assume is two or three-day fermented dough, they finish with hard cheese which is a nice touch but the vodka sauce lacked flavor which, if you’re going light on the cheese, is gonna move it from great to good.
My sense is very few places are selling this style by the slice so maybe it’s new to a lot of New Yorkers, hence the popularity. Have to go back and try their plain slice.
Best,
