This dude thinks he’s “helping others”.

No. He’s just an irritating PITA.

And a frivolous lawsuiter!

Germany doesn’t have the same laws that allows those ridiculous law cases in the US and just based on his other lawsuits I doubt that the hot sauce was too hot for him, he is just seeing an opportunity to get rich by suing as many companies/organizations as possible

I love eating at Los Tacos #1 when I am in NYC, and don’t think the salsa is too hot.

The salsa isn’t even hot. It’s like medium at best. (Really good flavor, though.) And now thanks to this idiot it’s going to be mild. Sigh.

It’s not, is why.

Nah, he lost. Los Tacos #1 is safe to serve spicy(ish) salsa!

I should have read the article before replying! Glad that they won, and I hope they got some form of restitution. What a stupid lawsuit.

On a side note…Los Tacos #1 has AWESOME tacos.

Nopales FTW!

Reminds me of the time we took my BIL’s in-laws (from Yorkshire) to our favorite Mexican dive. They had never had Mexican food, so we thought they might enjoy something different. They found the base enchilada sauce - which, to us, has no heat whatsoever - to be too spicy. I think they would have found marshmallows to be too hot.

So… dude comes to the US, finds things to complain about, and sues to fund his travels. Diabolical (but dumb).

To be fair, having worked with German colleagues for many years, [warning - generalization will follow] they love everything spelled out into guidelines and process documents. One of our directors was there as an ex-pat and said he was astounded when he was handed a manual on how to handle home recycling that he said was about half an inch thick. And with that, there are many things that are clearly noted and documented that as a visitor, I deeply appreciated.

This dude though is just a dick. If he wants to improve, he can merely offer the suggestion and feedback. Why would lawsuit = feedback? If he feels the NYPD wasn’t set up to easily allow a tourist to report a crime, how is that 10M to line his pocket going to help that? Perhaps he can say he didn’t expect it, but this guy clearly wants attention. I have also had several German colleagues come and work with us for a few months, and they were always cool and loved trying new things not available to them.

Just goes to show that assholes come in all shapes, sizes, and nationalities.

Word. I thought that kind of litigiousness was strictly American, though!

Maybe it was a “when in Rome,” thing.

Trust, I cannot express the level of regert I feel for not having sued Instacart’s pants off when I sustained an injury during work hours IN 2020 that ended up turning into a chronic pain issue & has cost me countless months of income loss due to being unable to work one of my other jobs.

I’m just too damn German I guess.

They are like me, but everything is relative. I always ask the waitstaff to describe the food, mindful of where I am. In New Orleans, “mild” can be way too hot (as I found out) and in San Antonio the waitress casually mentioned that a soup was finished with a touch of Scotch Bonnet pepper (avoided, of course).

Still, I’ve been caught out a few times, but sue? Never!

I love marshmallows BTW!
