But keep in mind it will be too hot by late May, June!
Okay. It’s never too hot here. Well, for the cat, it is.
Yum yum! You probably can get some delicious pea shoots from that too! I am only growing 4 measly plants and only 3 are sprouting so far. Two very stubborn peas won’t sprout.
That’s good because there are never enough peas! Some of the vines are not as expected; I think they are “English” peas rather than sugar snap. The flowers are purple and the peas start off very flat.
Hopefully they are not “Sweet Peas”! If I stop posting, I may have been poisoned!
Joking!
Do you think they could be a variety of snow peas? I’ve never grown those myself. I have tried the English shelling peas, and they do start flat but swell up quickly after. My variety had the typical white flowers though. If they are snow peas, I’ve heard the flowers are edible too.
Second round of Ontario gardening bingo.
I planted 3 Vesey’s seeds today.
Vesey’s is a seed supplier and garden centre based on Prince Edward Island that has been in business since 1939. I ordered my seeds online.
Albion Parsnip
Seaside spinach
Taunus Beets
Stay tuned.
For any of you with limited garden space, these potato grow bags and other grow bags look neat.
Among the whitest parsnips we’ve seen
Is this a desirable parsnip trait?
I think that’s a good idea! I grow cool weather things in grow bags.
They dry out too fast for me in the summer, and in watering trays, I sometimes have to empty the trays in our winter.
Right on!
No idea. I bought 6 varieties of parsnips to see which do best this summer
Various peas and collards
Supposedly Sugar Ann, Sugar Daddy, and Cascadia. I think this might be my first time with Cascadia. I have Sugar Lace too, but none ready for picking.
There may be an imposter in here, probably not Johnny’s.
are used in the same way as snow peas"
Champion and Georgia collards
As expected, some were "English peas ".
I heard to cut a corner off of each one that seemed “suspect”.
I will have a much later start than the last 5 springs. I bought some manure on Monday and it’s frozen solid in the bag. LOL
I can’t even imagine that. It’s supposed to hit 100 tomorrow here. A record early date, no less.
It’s really unusual not to have daffodils blooming here by April 10th
Just putting this here for us gardeners.
No.
5 bags (of 0.75 cu ft) for $10.
