Hope you have a lovely break in Puerto Rico
Nah. Most of the pens are in a utensil holder in the “ever-danged-thing” drawer, but I’ve got this one holding some pens and a couple of pairs of scissors.
It was a gift from my wife when my son was about 6 months old (his photo is on the other side), so even though it’s cheap as can be, I’d be in trouble if I replaced it.
This is my favourite wine glass. It’s the last one standing of a set of 3 French 1979s glasses I bought from a thrift store (I think Luminarc brand). It’s tiny.
Your Calamityware mug! A relative gifted us a set of two as well. I love that they appear prim and proper until you look closer at the decoration.
I love luminarc.
I also have the omnivore bowls, pasta bowls, and 2 trays.
As we taxi at Logan, we feel as though we’re flying into the belly of the beast.
Oh no! Here’s hoping for everyone that the power comes back on promptly
Ohhh no!!! I hope it’s fixed quickly!
Not mine, but… When I was a tween/teen, I broke my dad’s absolute favorite coffee mug. He has always had a mustache (Tom Selleck style) and someone had gifted him a “mustache mug” with a guard to keep his ‘stache relatively dry as he drank his coffee. I felt horrible, and ever since, have tried to find a decent replacement for it. Amazon has a relatively boring one (this) or a detachable guard to put on another mug, but none of them really scream “this is perfect for dad!”. I also think he wouldn’t use a preowned one from Ebay, which seems to be the only other option.
Oh dear. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon. Or your SO might find it quite exciting? When we used to visit India from the US as kids, we found power cuts very exciting. As adults, a different story.
I never realised you could get mugs for mustachioed people! Learnt something new today and got inspiration for a gift for my uncle and cousin-in-law who have mustaches - thanks. Hope you find one that suits your dad.
Here are my favorite mug (I have six in various patterns. (They were from SLT. I love their size, stability, and payload.); wooden spoon; martini glass (Nick and Nora, my heroes.); and old fashioned glass.
These were easy enough to pull, but in all honesty, at any given moment pretty much everything in my kitchen is my favorite whatever it is, even the obscure ones and the mundane ones.
Old marmalade jars are used around the house.
I saw one for $50 (new) but also found this site - maybe one of these will work for $27? AND you can order them right- or left-handed!
I have a dozen or so Dundee crocs around the house holding various implements. them and they gotta be at least 60+ years old. The parents, being children of the Great Depression, saved a lot of stuff. I have 2X 3 generantions of '‘stuff’ I need to purge and the kids are not interested.
Yeah, I still remember them shifting first to cream colored glass and then to clear glass. Their orange marmalade on home made wheat bread, well toasted and buttered, is still a favorite. However, it is so hard to find that I usually grab Mackay’s, a fine alternative.
My cousin in Bavaria got me hooked on German wine glasses. I started out thinking they were a little funny looking, but they grew on me to the point that I rarely make my drinks in anything else.
We also have a group of ceramic mugs/cups I bought in Hanoi, which have a dragonfly motif. They are meant to be Bat Trang ceramics but might be fakes, because I’m not an expert and bought them in the tourist quarter and not in Bat Trang. We love the dragonflies, which are very nicely painted with expressive eyes on some of them. One cup even has a dragonfly painted inside at the bottom on the cup.
