ENTENMANN'S Do not buy this brand

Agreed. They all taste the same. And the cheese danish has so little cheese.

i grew up in the ny metropolitan area in the 60s and early 70s, and have such fond memories of entenmann’s — in particular, the cinnamon danish twist and the chocolate cover doughnuts.

Their powdered donuts make a great base layer for trifles.

Loved the chocolate-covered donuts and also the chocolate donuts with the nubbly bits on the outside.

Very creative! Did you have some stale ones to use up?

No.

I just buy Entenmann’s.

I’m a loser (at least according to this thread).

The last time I got the chocolate-enrobed donuts I was so disappointed. Flavorless.

i see them in the supermarket, but have heard enough not to be tempted.

It’s like wax. It’s such a shame because the fudge coating and cake were so quality before.

Funny I grew up eating various Entenmann’s items, but haven’t really noticed them around in years. I mostly shop at Grocery Outlet, Trader Joes and farmers markets though.

I would buy Entenmann’s, if it was available in Ontario.

Provide please.

I don’t doubt you.

But do you think some of that might be attributable to your change in your tastebuds?

I mean, for me anyways, I grew up eating all sorts of junk food crap (Entenmann’s included and other things like Hershey’s bars).

But now, having lived on this globe of ours for many decades, and having sample real deal pastries and donuts (thank you Voodoo, Levain, Mah-Ze-Dahr, etc.), I now know what the real deal, good stuff is and can never go back to Entenmann’s or nasty things like Snickers bars.

So did the food change, or did I change?

Maybe both? Dunno.

Both, for me.

I still have room in my heart for Vachon cakes and TastyKakes, and I have had renewed interest and loyalty in McDs over the past 3 years, and to a lesser extent Wendy’s and A&W. I am currently eating McD’s around twice a month.

I remember so vividly the 6 pack of cupcakes for holidays like Valentine’s Day and Halloween and St Patrick’s day. I can actually imagine the taste… They were so good to my young palate. I haven’t had one in years. I feel like I need to pick up a pack to see how they taste to me now.

Yes, the ones with an inch of thick fudge frosting and a swirl of colorful “buttercream”!
I haven’t seen them in my neck of the woods in some time.

Yes!!! I am going to look the next time I’m at stop and shop. I haven’t seen them either but I also haven’t been looking and my local grocery store I go to most often doesn’t stock Entenmanns.

Charlie entenmann was in my Cub Scout troop, always looked forward to when it was his mom’s turn to supply the snack!

I was also friends with the son of the man who owned beyers dairy farm. Use to love beyers milk and entenmann’s chcolate donuts!

A little bit of both. But I feel like they were still good in the mid 90s/early 2000s. At some point they were genuinely good – and not just because my taste buds didn’t know better. A lot of heritage brands began to substitute cheaper, less palatable ingredients when they were bought out by corporations. Pepperidge Farm is a good example; they switched from butter to palm and other fats when they were bought out, and the taste suffered.
