Emotions attached to kitchen objects

I hear ya. I work with some kids who, when I go to their homes, I look for a den.

My favorite potato peeler has been AWOL for about two weeks. I’ve had it since my first cooking job nearly 50 years ago. I’ve searched everywhere, the kitchen drawers, the compost bucket, the utensil crocks…nada. I did buy a similar new one the other day that has a self sharpening cover in the hopes the old one would show up. Still hoping.

Another beautiful, heartwarming story! I’m tearing up! And what a beautiful piece of furniture!

I hope you can take it with you wherever you go, Linda!

My Mother had two silver serving spoons that are decorated with leaves, one she used (now paper thin at the edges) and a slightly smaller one she did not use. After she passed, I ended up with the one she did not use because my step-Dad is using the other one. I sometimes use the one I have when I make a special dish. I will probably give it to my niece’s daughter someday.
My step-Dad gave me her roll-top desk so I have more than my share.

Every time I cook with my 10" CI, I remember my mom and grandma who preceded me in its use. I’ve cooked dang near everything in that skillet, and is the MVP of my cooking life.
