Emilia-Romagna Trip Planning, small towns

I have some Parma recommendations if you’re headed that way. I found Elizabeth Mincilli’s book was generally helpful and I subscribed to her Substack for a month or so to read the back issues.

Best,

Headed that way! Will get her book and look at her Substack. Thanks!

I can’t remember if you will have a car??? If so, Dozza is a unique stop. All we ate there were panini in a bar but the town if sull of public art–many murals and sculptures. It makes a wonderful hour or two break in a drive.

Thanks @jangita, we will have a car and I have added Dozza to our places to stop!

agree on Dozza - cute little village with many fascinating murals and a great wine shop in the Castello basement dedicated to local wines and a passionate owner.

Not at Mo!, but I did have donkey mortadella a couple of times in Sicily as well as the Nebrodi black pig one. If I’m honest the donkey mortadella tasted mostly like regular mortadella. The Nebrodi black pig one was more intense (and fatty) and I would describe it as “luscious”. (At least as luscious as a pink sludge studded with pistachio and lard can be.) Neither went into the realm of “gamey”.

At Mo! we did do the regular mortadella and the wild boar one at the same time and you could taste a subtle difference between the two with the boar being stronger, but again not gamey.
