Driving to St. Pete - I-95 and Florida

Sonny’s is good cue – and the salad bar is always loaded with very fresh produce.

And they’ll make me a half and half without cocking their head to the side and asking what that is.

We leave Monday morning, so this sounds like an option for Tuesday lunch. We’ve been to Sonny’s elsewhere (Orlando, I think) and liked it, although it is more of a chain, which we generally try to avoid.

Half wet half dry? They also have the best iced tea. I have pulled thru the drive through just for the tea.

No, half-sweet, half unsweet.

Like you, we generally avoid chains. The first time we went to Sonny’s, we had no idea it was a chain. But even after we found out that it was, it didn’t stop us from going back since we enjoyed the food. So, we do make exceptions to the avoid chains rule. We like the burgers, fries, and soft serve at Shake Shack. Started going to the flagship location in Madison Square Park right after it opened and have continued to do so occasionally even though SS has now become a chain.
