Dress code - or not dress code

I’m not sure this a universal truth is all I’m saying. It isn’t true for me - at least not where the partrons are concerned. Elements of the design, staff, kitchen maybe - the look of the patrons … not for me.

A dress code is a way of ensuring you’re “one of us”. At more trendy (though still high-priced) places, showing up in formal clothes would make one look out of place.

It all depends on the clientele a restaurant is is trying to draw.

No, it was a different event. A young Tory MP was celebrating something with friends in the French Alps and one of them was in Nazi uniform. They also got utterly shitfaced and started doing Nazi salutes. The table was a sea of glasses and bottles (including cognac etc) by the time they had left.

I certainy haven’t forgotten that about either King Edward or Henry Ford…
