“Chai tea” drives me nuts. Also saying “chai” when you mean “masala chai.”
The local news had a story recently about credit/debit cards getting ‘skimmed’ at POS terminals. The reporter seemed to be making quite a valiant effort at saying “PIN” without adding ‘number’ throughout the report, eg “hide your PIN…” and “protect your PIN…” Then, at the very end, warned viewers to be diligent not only at POS terminals, but also at “ATM machines”.
You can only hope for so much.
I’ve sworn at the POS terminals many times.
I guess I forgot that ultimate oxymoron, “chai tea LATTE”
(I don’t have an issue with chai being synonymous with masala chai, because if I’m making it or being offered it in an indian context, there’s almost certainly something added — ginger, lemongrass, cardamom, chai masala. People will sometimes specify “plain” if they don’t want anything added.)
I’m absolutely certain, at the present time, that these each and every of these redundancies are blatantly obvious. And that’s an actual fact, in my personal opinion.
I’m looking for the people who think that …
Yes. That has always driven me crazy.
More eats, shoots and leaves .
I’m just looking for people who think.
Nicely done!
A trip to Queens (NYC) resulted in this pair of purchases.
On the, Urfa pepper (aka isot pepper) flakes from a Turkish store in Sunnyside. Not spicy to me, but there’s a hint of smokiness and something floral.
But on the left, what a score. The Yemeni Jewish condiment known as “s’chug.” Trader Joe’s had (has?) an ersatz version. No no no. This one has a kick. And cloves … which amuses me, because I only associate cloves Indonesian cigarettes called kretek, or Saudi coffee.
I’d dip fries in s’chug all day long.
Oooh, I don’t think I could abide a pronounced clove flavor in zhoug. It’s really strong to me, and I barely use it.
Also, I hung out with a bunch of Indonesians in HS and loathed the clove cigarettes
Yes. I never understood clove cigarettes.
Why subject your lungs to that when you could smoke either pot or tobacco?
Or, in my case at the time, tobacco and hash
HP and mayo, which also makes a great sandwich spread.
There were some who hid a certain white powdery substance in their Krakatoas and an unsuspecting puffer would get quite the
‘comfortably numb’ experience.
Shermans were much cooler, especially in those mod colors.
