costco yay/nay/meh

Also known as sago pudding in Chinese desserts, and very popular in taro or mango flavors. The consistency looks quite thick. Is it really pudding like in viscosity? In the Chinese dessert, it’s one of many sweet soups so it’s more liquid.

Ginger Love? Wasn’t she an 80’s adult movie actress?

I bought two of the two-packs to pass on to my mother as a general-use olive oil, as that smooth, buttery flavor profile is her preference and it’s well-priced. I also like that the bottles are only a liter each and (unlike some of the Kirkland branded oils) glass. Personally, I prefer olive oil with some peppery finish.

It’s been awhile since I got them, I don’t remember sorry! The Costco I go to most often has kind of a snack aisle where there are some Asian / Asian inspired snacks. This may be where I found it but am not very sure.

Yes it is pudding-like in thickness, thicker than a soup but not firm like a jelly or Jell-O.

Thank you. I couldn’t tell if it was a refrigerated or frozen product. I love how Costco’s are geared to their local demographics. I’m guessing I won’t be able to find these locally but now a couple of stores that would be more likely to it in stock.

Ah I see, it was definitely not refrigerated.

The line at the gas station is too long for me

Having trouble finding a robust EVOO that has flavor of olives

Even for one person, the deals on over-the-counter drugs and supplements, and eyeglasses can make the membership worthwhile.

But, anyone can go to Costco for Rx, no membership required.

For prescriptions, yes, but not for over-the-counter drugs such as ibuprofen or multi-vitamins.

I enjoyed this youtube set of video reviews by Allrecipes of prepared meals from Costco. I’ve only had their rotisserie chicken and it was good to see prep details and tasting comments on so many items. A couple have now made it to my “try that” list.

Just visited a Costco for the first time, and joined. LFG!

I bought some pistachio cream, a big bag of pistachios, a vat of Old Bay, vanilla bean paste, and some Waygu jerky.

Costco food court pizza: literal lol, nay. Flaccid and pale.

Based on that video review, we tried Costco St Louis style ribs, already cooked and ready to reheat, with BBQ sauce. Nay for us - rub is too salty and sauce too peppery for us. But meat itself was well cooked, tender, and reheated nicely. And it’s packaged for easy smaller-quantity meal prep with the individual ribs already cut apart. Good value. They also sell the raw ribs already spice-rubbed in larger-quantity packages in a nearby refrigerated case, I’m glad I kept looking for the cooked/refrigerated ones.

Yay for the chicken/Swiss tortilla rollup sandwiches. These made great tasting no-cook mains for lunches and suppers. We found 1 - 1 1/2 sandwiches per “serving” was right for us. Nutrition info is not on the printed package label, but is available from other (non-Costco) sites, some with disparaging commentary some simply factual. Sodium, carb and protein levels all are right for us.

we love those ribs - super meaty and tasty - but dont use the sauce… we are definitely salt lovers, though.

Of course your local situation could be different but where I am it’s pretty amazing how quickly those lines move. Most of our locations have maybe 8-10 lines, each with 3 pumps in them. Last week I was around 10th in my line and was done in something like 15 minutes max. They’ve put up a light system that shows you which pumps in each line are free, so you can move ahead. People used to just sit there with open pumps until they did that.
