This includes and eclipses all the information I had about City Slicker, and seems like great news to me. Hope the re-owner is finding fulfillment, because I’m certainly filled with their food regularly.
Might have been Chinese, it was an Asian restaurant of some kind.
Hmm, then maybe it was gone before I worked there. I was there in the early 2000s, and there was only the BeanTown Cafe that had a decent deli, and a few hot lunch options. Before Mamelah, State Park, and the Friendly Toast came in years later, it used to be CBC and that pool/drinks place (the name is escaping me), the cafe, Blue Room and a few businesses across the way (I vaguely remember a salon). There was a sit down restaurant that didn’t last long where State Park is now, but definitely wasn’t a deli by then. I remember having fish tacos that were underwhelming and took them 40 minutes to prepare (during the lunch rush!).
The pool hall was called Flat Top Johnny’s
The location next to CBC (to the left as you face its entrance) has been a rotating cast of restaurants/bars over the years. Before Smoke Shop it was an Irish bar (Tommy Doyle’s). There was something before that, it might have been a deli now that I think about it and I believe that there was something before that.
Pompanoosuc Mills furniture store was a longtime occupant of part of the upper level across the courtyard
Wow, memory unlocked. We used to do a lot of company gatherings at Flat Top Johnny’s. But I completely forgot about Tommy Doyle’s! Very popular, but to be honest, we almost never went in. I think only once in my 5 years when we worked in Tech Square. We usually went to CBC or Flat Top Johnny’s instead.
Decades ago, I recall a restaurant very near the Blue Room that was there for a while…something with a name perhaps associated with Switzerland? Didn’t last long, I think.
