I am not from the area, but tried Chengdu 23 last month takeout and it was great. I had ants climbing a tree and the scallop dish, I loved the way the peppercorns were balanced by the fried scallops. What is the triple pepper chicken, is it any good? I might be back there in the next couple months or so.
My only problem, and it’s me, not them - my stomach can’t handle the peppercorns as well as I used to. But it tasted SO good.

If I had to name the number one restaurant that I miss in NNJ, it’s C 23. Sorry about your stomach, but try the volcano chicken!
