P.S. Welcome syrahlover/Ted Richards. I seem to recall you were an east-end Hound. I wonder if/hope that’s still true.
Yes, welcome, Ted Richards/ @syrahlover
Yes, I live near Midland and Kingston Road. I think you used to live around here before you moved? I’ve been on CH & HO for quit a while, but we don’t eat out much so I rarely post, and mostly wine related (I’m an old friend of Estufarian).
Not THAT old!
Oh, yes we are.
syrahlover, I loved living at Midland and Kingston. Not much in the way of high-end dining, but there are a few nice spots nonetheless. If you hit anything, please post. We still travel in for Nakamori and Upper Beaches Bourbon House. Happy to add to the list.
My favourite Scarborough dive, The STONE WELL PUB on Kingston near Warden continues to surprise me. On top of having some of the best cheap eats in the east end, they now have a for real Irish Breakfast for $17. Black AND white pudding thank you very much.
happy St Brigid’s Day, Googs
St David’s Day is on March 1st. These will be available Feb 28th! East End Pie and Mash on Gerrard St E
Looking for M&S Picallili if you ever see it. Sells out so far
Sobeys is carrying this brand
I didn’t realise any Canadian businesses have been carrying Marks and Spencer products.
Sobeys carries a few Sainsbury products.
Thanks Zoe. Not as keen on this brand but I may get desperate enough. There’s another that Sunnyside provisions (Roncy) sells. Will check it out some time. Zucchini mustard pickles used to be a thing in Toronto but they’ve disappeared. As for the Sainsbury products, so hard to find. Where did you see these?
The Sainsbury items in the photo are at a Sobeys in London, ON. There is a British selection in the International Aisle.
This isn’t British. It is a zucchini relish available in ON. I can buy this in St Thomas, ON . Mr Amish jams are available in Toronto. I have not seen their pickles and relishes in Toronto but I haven’t looked hard. Made in Strathroy, ON, Mennonite-style stuff .
From the Ottawa area
From my favourite kitchen shop in Listowel, ON:
I’ll keep an eye out for zucchini mustard pickles in Toronto stores.
I have seen them at small town stores in the past, in Perth County and cottage country. I don’t want to send you on a wild goose chase.
Simply British Foods, a great little shop in Whitby, has Marks & Sparks.
Thanks, Zoe. Will check this out.
