We returned, along with our daughter, to Brion on a Monday evening for another excellent meal.
The pastrami-style bonito tuna, the veal tartare and the white asparagus and rice (sans trout eggs and sardines) starters were all very good.
The mains were even better. My wife loved her vegetable pithivier.
My daughter’s swordfish with peas and a pistachio beurre blanc was excellent.
I had the star dish of the evening: braised lamb shoulder with a fantastic Szechuan peppercorn glaze/sauce over garlic orzo. Just wow!
For dessert, we shared one very nice strawberry tartlet, with a mattcha-flavvored custard and almond ice cream.
I don’t remember my first glass of white wine. The glass of red went very well with the lamb.
IMO prices are very fair for this quality.
I’m almost as grateful to @onzieme for point us toward Brion as I am for his recommendation of Géméllus.
