As I said “with very few exceptions” and in that cases mainly because the “compounds of interest” exist for a very long time already in the scientific community and so there was simply much more time to investigate for scientific evidence. (And one might even argue that for tobacco even today many of the specific details, e.g. which component causes what part of which disease and which level is quite unclear - which is part of the reason why vaping was too long seen as a “healthier” way to smoke)
No, I get it.

Yeah, (literally) the best example of which was the cruelly-named Shrimp test. Yielded 15 megatons when it was supposed to do <5. The Marshallese still suffer for this.
“Experts, however, say that the debate over the study — and over black plastic kitchen utensils — misses the point. The so-called safe level of flame retardants, they argue, is based on old science that doesn’t account for how different chemicals can accumulate in the body.
The problem is not whether a single black plastic spatula can exceed the safe level — but whether that level should be considered safe at all.”

“Here’s the Real Concern when it Comes to Black Plastic”
Jesus F. Christ…. reading about this is horrible. Seeing and hearing info on plastics might induce nightmares, as it should. I’m thinking more and more this is one of the cause of all the crazy cancers younger people (around age 40) are getting.
I thought the middle initial was “H”
