Worst? Hardly.
I saw Hamms on the shelf the other day and out of masochistic curiosity I bought a 6 pack of tall boy cans.
THAT is a bad beer!
Now I have to figure out what to do with 5 Hamms tall boys.
Hmmm… I think i have the answer.
LOL!!

Ignoring you now.
Agree. I’d go as far as saying canned Bud is probably above the median quality of all available canned beer from brewers of all sizes. But to satisfy me, it has to be very cold, and I’ll likely not drink it outside of summer. Bud is also one of the rare beers IME that is better from a can than a keg.
If you don’t like “The Beer Refreshing”, the cans make good plinking targets. I was raised shooting Schmidt Animal Beer cans in hunting camp. If you hit 'em just right, even a .22 will send them flying.
With beer like that I find it best to drink them very very cold, stick them in the freezer to just before they start to freeze.
That’s what she does to make Maiwine, but you’d asked about the woodruff syrup for the Berliner Weisse–a more mysterious process.
If the mystery is revealed, please share.
Cellarmaker Orange Julian - DDH hazy IPA, very good
Aecht Schlenkerla Weichsel Rotbier - interesting beer, a red lager that is smoked over cherry wood. Could definitely taste the smoke. Other than the unique smoky taste, pretty easy to drink.
Is this a rauschbier?
Don’t get me wrong–I love even heavily-smoked foods. But I can’t remember ever trying a rauschbier that I thought didn’t have too much smoke.
I keep waiting for a subtle one just at the perception threshold. Could this be it?
Have you tried Bud Light? Bottled water remarketed as canned beer.
I think that is what AB was trying to do. Brew beer for people who do not like beer.
And, VOILA!!
Bud Light!
LOL!
There are a lot of bad beers out there, and I have drank a lot of the older ones.
Back in the 1970’s when I started my beer drinking days, we drank what was “local” at the time. So Rainier Beer was fairly popular in NE Montana.
Let me see if I can cue the video to 5:53 in…
That was the Rainier Beer commercial that took the Blue Ribbon, so to speak.
I tend to try most things before comment about them - so yes, I tried Bud Light - a “beer” for those who don’t like beer
ETA - just saw that Ziv made the same comment
Actually, Bud Light was A-B’s market-splitting answer to Miller Lite, which was and is an astoundingly successful beer.
It doesn’t make Bud Light a fine beer, though.
I am old enough to remember the “Tastes Great! Less Filling!” ad campaign so I am entirely too familiar with the success of Miller Lite. Silly side story, Miller Lite’s spokesman back in the day was John Madden of NFL fame. He hated to fly so he took trains everywhere and ended up stuck in my small Montana town, Glasgow, when there was a train derailment ahead of his Amtrak train. So the conductors told the passengers there was a nice cafe and several not so nice bars across the street. Madden headed straight to one of the not so nice bars and bought everyone there Lite beer for an hour or two. More importantly he sat and talked football with everyone in the bar the entire time he was there.
He is well remembered in my hometown.
Cool story.
I had a book, an insider’s account of the wars and skirmishes that went on over the popularization of light beer. I lent it to a brewer friend, and it went into their office library. Can’t recall the title.
BL was dang popular among our country folks. Always made me laugh. Then, when some switched in outrage, I let the cat out of the bag. “Couldn’t happen to a shittier beer” says I. “Must have been the old commercials that got you to buy it; cuz that brew blows goats!.” “The first canned water on the market to my knowledge.” Let 'em have it.
Obviously a great move by A-B, because you’re almost trying to outdo the worst of beers.
I sure do remember “Tastes great!..Less Filling!” Billy Martin, etc. That was when the commercial became more important than the actual product. Sure as hell worked for the breweries. Madden was the real deal.
If you know some pro wrestling greats of old, you may know the name Crusher Lisowski (Dah Crusher!). He was born and raised in South Mwaukee, my home town, and when you’d see him on TV, he was all gravel voiced and yelling. His real name was Reginald, and grew up across the street from my dad. So, when we’d see him in a pub, reso or store, my ole man would have to catch up with him. First time I heard him talk ( I was very excited to meet him) it was like someone murdered Santa Claus. Killed me. Over time, I learned to appreciate that he was just a nice guy. Damn, I wanted him to be the badass in real life, though. Nope, just a nice guy like the rest of us. Got a statue of him in SoutMwaukee.
Variations of these seem to be quite popular over the last 1-2 years. I sometimes like the Hoplark Water on a hot day - they have different hops and so it is a nice way to taste different hops alone
That looks interesting… You stated it didn’t taste like beer, but can you describe the taste?? Was it refreshing like beer??
