like a red traffic light . . .
heehee - ain’t that the truth! up north the phrase “red is just another shade of green” is more popular - but the sentiment is the same.
nice photos! I was immediately struck by the menus. spent time in Turin/Treviso/Bari during the 80’s and back then there was no English on the menus except perhaps in super high end hotel restos…
I’m guessing the tourist business has transformed Bari quite a bit.
As much as I enjoy seafood in places like the Mediterranean and the West Coast, the uni is much better in Japan. It has a more intense but somehow pure sea flavor. Texture ranges from very creamy to subtle firmness that then melts in your mouth. It’s better with spaghetti and other ingredients in other parts of the world.
[completely unrelated to food & to Bari–erica (and others), I recently watched the HBO based-on-a-true-story miniseries, Portobello. I found it very interesting/shocking, and the performances of some of the actors from Naples are, as usual, just spectacular. Choose Italian as the language with English subtitles for the most oomph! We are going back to southern Italy in May and will have (only) one night in Bari at the end of the trip…so I really need to knuckle down and figure out where to have the final dinner!! (We begin with four nights in Sorrento, and I think I will begin a thread about restaurants in that area; it’s a very surprising destination choice for me; I’ve never stayed there but it will be easy/relaxing for my partner, so…)
