I would put my shopping list, phone, wallet, and keys in that bag, carrying it as a shoulder bag, and go for it. If they have the affrontery to challenge you, just say you use a tote rather than a purse.

Yes, they do! I can vouch for their durability and value. Our oldest Baggu’s are 4+ years old and still good as new. We just throw them in the washer once in awhile I agree the standard size bags hold more than enough. I sent a bunch to my mother when her town went to reusable bags and she actually does use one in place of a purse on occasion when she needs to bring a lot of stuff.

My mother had three shopping bags someone made for her in the 1980s from heavy-duty upholstery fabric. I somehow managed to misplace one this past year, but the other two are still going strong after thirty+ years.

This is a great idea (as others have posted above). I’ll have to give this a try too.

I’m a little surprised MB let’s you do this . . . ONLY because when/if I buy something that isn’t being bagged (historically speaking here of course) they have to put one of those orange dots on it, to prove I paid for it? So I wouldn’t have thought they’d let me walk out with a whole cart of un-bagged groceries but if it works, I’m game.

It’s been no problem for me twice at Market Basket, and same today at Wegman’s Medford. They even asked if I wanted the receipt and I was like “uh, yes, probably a good idea to have handy in this case.”

finally made it to the somerville market basket. got there around 12:30 and the place was close to empty, so it was easy to navigate (except for a few people ignoring the one-way aisles; hope they’re paying more attention hile driving:).

no paper bags in sight; all plastic. since i had a smallish order, they put everything in the plastic bags and when i left the store, i repacked everything into the reusable bags i had folded in my (big) purse.

i use the plastic bags for my kitchen trash container and since the ban, scrounge a few when i can. down the road, though, i’ hope they’ll let just take the stuff out unbagged.

Well, glad that they are at least making it easier for their customers with the plastic bags with handles. I wonder if it’s all MBs, or just the one in Somerville. I re-use mine for trash and kitty litter too, so I’ve been relishing getting my hands on bags recently.

These are the same people that drive the wrong way in the parking lot. I saw two of them yesterday.

Ive decided that the worst people in the big grocery stores are Insta cart shoppers. They are easy to spot shopping off iPhones, going the wrong way down aisles, and pushing into crowded spaces to grab things rather than waiting for someone to move - like the rest of us aren’t there … sorry rough week. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Interesting. So far, this is exactly the opposite of how the Instacart shoppers near me have behaved. They have been far better at distancing than average shoppers and observe the one way aisle protocol.

Maybe because I’m shopping in relatively lower density locales? (Market Basket, Littleton and once or twice in Whole Foods Westford.)

Everything can change, of course.
