Connection between Flatbread and pizza strips? No way. RI pizza predates Flatbread or if it doesn’t it’s just a whole different part of the pizza galaxy. There are many styles of round pizzas that are cut square; for example, it is common the Midwest, to the chagrin of many. Here is a comprehensive Serious Eats regional pizza primer.
One big hole in this piece is that RI pizza strips are not represented. So to me this is a flawed piece but it’s a start.
