Yep, I was well aware of the Manchester newspaper poll.
I also heard about Paris buns from Van Morrison it was a few yrs back and I had a hard time finding any information on them. I did stumble across a recipe and have made them a few times. I dip the bottoms of the buns in melted chocolate and they are tastey.

We used to make rock cakes in primary school in North London during the 70s. They tasted like not so good scones and my mum would dip them in tea because they were very dry.
