Any words you dislike to use when talking about food ?

Funny you mention this. There was a long CH thread, sometimes contentious, about whether “foodie” was a good or bad descriptor. Some loved it, some hated it, and of course, there’s the vast middle “meh” ground.

I remember that. It devolved into silly argument in general, if I remember correctly

I’d love to hear whoever wrote that try to have a normal conversation.

I know I should always try–but I can’t do it. I’m a tired, lazy failure maybe :sob:

Or, maybe, should, just, can’t and won’t are the words that I have difficulty eliminating.
Or, maybe, just and should I find useful.
Eg.
This or that
Maybe we should try…
Just a moment please
That should work.
Can’t and won’t I understand because they are viewed as negative words yet also useful.
Eg.
That can’t happen
That won’t work
Promotes discussion to find a solution to a concern.
But I replace with yet/and
Problem with concern
Some of the other words attack your self esteem so those make sense.
I guess that it depends on the context that the words are used and when.
Won’t and can’t can appear to feed into helplessness and affect your happiness.
I’m going to work towards finding replacements for those words because if it would make the person that I’m
speaking to happier then it is worth the effort.
When speaking to people it’s not what you say or how you say it.
It is how the person interprets what you’ve said that you have to work with.

I don’t think Kali has been through a contentious divorce.
Just my opinion, but I can’t get past the idea she’s worthless.

The author probably won’t like this and I almost hate to say it, but I’m tired of these worthless lists of what you can and can’t say. There’s no perfect solution to this ugly problem, but maybe they should get busy trying to get a real job unless they’re lazy or feel stuck in a rut, only destined to always keep pumping the same bilgewater (pun intended).

(Did I miss any? If so, I’ll feel like a failure. )

Re: can’t.

Which sounds less negative? “I’m sorry, but I can’t attend your party,” or “I’m sorry, but I’m choosing not to attend your party.”

Re: hate

How am I supposed to condemn hate speech if I can’t use the word hate?

I can’t imagine anyone will find this useful and maybe some will find it worthless or maybe even hate it and perhaps someone will see it as an ugly truth, but I’m tired of people getting stuck on the fact that everyday actions are a problem. This article is a total failure.

You are absolutely entitled to your own opinion.
I’ve just been reading about words that irritate people.
Many of which surprised me.
For me, life is too short to get caught up in such things.

My post was in reference to the article you linked and was meant to be funny.

Ok got it, you used the words from the article very clever and it is funny.
Sorry, I’m trying to still wrap my head around these “offensive words” on multiple platforms and still struggling with why and how are they offensive.

Are not.
