400 Rabbits- Crystal Palace [London]

This new pizza place opened a couple of months ago. Now pizza isn’t top of my food list and the name and their sour dough/craft beer dynamic made me slightly wary, wondering whether it was style over substance. Anyway it has now become a firm favourite.

Their bases are really good ,crisp on the outside with still a bit of chew. Their toppings show some imagination , so far some of the toppings we’ve had ; pig cheeks and smoked Lincolnshire poacher, venison and red wine sausage with pecorino and courgette with pine nuts and ricotta. They also don’t over sauce and have a light hand with the cheese , which I like as you can taste the toppings. The beer list in interesting and changes often with beer on draught at pub prices. In fact all the prices are reasonable you can have two drinks and two pizzas and get out for under £25 , which is a rarity these days.Their gelato is good and I especially like their dark chocolate sorbet. Service veers between very good and a little distracted but it’s a great new addition to the local area.
