I still swoon at the memory of the bahn mi from Ma Peche. Best ever. The beef seven ways dinner was also special. I recall their spin on lamb over rice was not an improvement from the halal guys down the street.
so whos good for Bahn Mi now in Manhattan? Just went to Bahn Mi Cafe on E10th. It was OK, but not knock out. Still like Five 5pices better. Nothing like Saigon/HCMC though
tried all the rec’d bagel places in SoCP Manhattan and my local place in Northport is still way better, at least where pumpernickel is. Not really aware of other varieties of bagel.
and I was right near by the other day. Next week. Looks very a winner.

This might not be the “best” thing I’ve eaten lately but it was surprisingly delicious; forgot to take photo, but it’s the “tomato and parmesan flatbread” from LEVAIN Bakery on 18th between 5th and 6th.
Convenient to Saturday Greenmarket; we’ve been stopping in weekly to pick up a few of their famous cookies…and I noticed this in the case. Even better than it looked.
