2022 Manhattan restaurants

gr is mini-chain, I had a sandwich to go once, it was ok. there’s one here on the ues, interested to hear what you think. I didn’t like lefertis either, years ago has a couple of good meals at santorini in sleepy hollow.

for carnegie hall I’d often try to get my wife to a ramen joint, imo. they are so much better than ramenesque, but though my wife likes ramen, she just doesn’t see it as dinner. In good weather on my own I’ve eaten at the good, nearby halal trucks, probably not the smartest decision before heading into a 3 hour concert at carnegie.

anyhow, enjoy!

Except I’m going to be at 7th Avenue. But I will certainly keep it in mind for the next time we are in the theater district.

My wife doesn’t eat ramen or sushi, so those were not an option. And after mentioning the Greek place, my wife said that she was in the mood for a Greek salad, so convincing her to go somewhere else that she wouldn’t have been excited about was going to be a hard sell. She isn’t thrilled about going into the city for the concert in the first place.

So we ate there and it was surprisingly good. We started with the spicy feta and eggplant dips, $8.50 each. Not a huge fan of feta, but my wife liked it. The eggplant was good. They came with a bunch of pita pieces which were very good. Probably could have had one if we could have agreed on one that we wanted. My wife then got the Greek salad for $16, which she really liked. It was so large that she could not finish it. I had the lamb chops, which they sell in quarter, half or full kilo sizes. The quarter kilo was only $26 and the portion size was four chops, so very reasonably priced. I got them medium rare, and they were cooked properly (which is often a challenge at some restaurants) and were well-seasoned. Those came with a small serving of tzatziki and more pita (the salad also had pita). Cost for dinner was $60 plus tax and tip, and we were both very full and satisfied. And it was right around the corner from CH. Only real downsides were that the table was small and cramped, and it got cold when the front door was left open for extended periods. I saw people eating outside in their enclosure. Not sure how warm it was, and I didn’t want to find out.

BTW we also like Santorini in Sleepy Hollow but we haven’t been there in years.
