Steel cut oats upma. Made w/ instant SCO. These cook in 5 minutes but are nutritionally almost identical to regular SCO.
I toast them and add less water so they don’t get a gloopy texture.
I also add way more shredded less-starchy vegetables than usual (eg cabbage, bell peppers, tomatoes, etc.) Using precut vegetables (e.g. broccoli slaw as available in US grocery stores) makes this a very quick and easy breakfast.
Again co-starring the masala dabba.

Yummy with a scoop of plain yogurt.

Copper River sockeye is finally affordable in our neck of the woods. We’ll eat them any time of day as long as their available at a reasonable cost. Here it is breakfast. Lightly seasoned with S&P, then pan seared on cast iron - both sides - for a total of 3 minutes. Finished in a 400 degree oven until just underdone: these were small, 1-lb. filets, so oven time was about another 3 minutes. Served with some leftover potato wedges re-crisped in a hot skillet. Last night’s lemon and herb pasta salad dressing went great with the fish. Sweet cherries! Summer is here!

Couldn’t make it to NOLA this year for my Jazz Fest birthday so had to make some beignets and cafe au lait.

First time making them at home, and not to toot my own horn and no cap, I think I liked them better than, or at least the same as, the ones from Cafe du Monde.

We are long on snow peas in the garden right now, so it was a morning stir fry to break the fast. I made a half recipe (heavy on the peas) for the two of us.

Shrimp with snow peas.
