What’s for Dinner #39 - Nov. '18 - The Beginning of the Holiday Season!

Please tell more about the beer, curious!
Love Mapo!

Exactly! Actually, if I don’t eat carbs, I don’t feel fulfilled with the meal.

But mmm, talking about addiction, lately I’m craving for sugar, that sucks!

Best wishes! Nice to give a hand when you can.

Hope those in California don’t suffer too much, very bad air, I’ve heard.

Still no result from allergist after 14 days
So, have been on red meat, dairy free food
Went to Costco, TJ and HT yesterday for grocery
Here is a simple late lunch, early dinner

Wild Ahi Tuna ( never frozen so cannot eat it raw as they suggested it be frozen for 3 days to eat it raw, not being sashimi quality ), seared for a few minutes, still red inside, with yuk kosho dressing ( red and white, some lemon juice, mirin and sesame oil), pan fried shishitio peppers in EVOO until the skin blistered with sprinkling of pink hinalayan salt ( now my favorite appetizer) , left over roasted butternut squash in EVOO and garlic
picture does not show the seared tuna well Bec of the dressing added

Sign of a truly tasty dish😂

Freezer shopping yielded an unlabeled (:rage:) container that turned out to be cauliflower cheese from just before my trip… reincarnated as cauliflower soup for the current tundra weather

I had defrosted a piece of salmon that I won’t be able to eat tomorrow because I have to leave for an overnight trip to a funeral, so inspired by @Scubadoo97 here I am trying to cure salmon for the first time :crossed_fingers:t3:

Very appetizing!

I think your reply was for me? If so then yes homemade, used Fuchsia Dunlop’s recipe more or less:

only with pork.

I liked it, it had a peanut and slightly milky taste as advertised. A little bit of bitterness to round it out. Maybe better as a dessert drink though!

:+1: should work well. Just need enough salt to pull some water out and the sugar also has the same effect and balance the salt taste. I’m not afraid of sugar but I know many people like to avoid it

It’s a snowy, blustery day here around NYC. To avoid commuting in the snowstorm, I worked from home in the suburbs today. I have pot roast in the oven, sweet potatoes roasting, will steam some broccoli and roast some asparagus the last few minutes before we eat. At the moment, the house smells amazing, everything is prepped/in process and I"m enjoying a glass of wine with great music while the kiddos happily build LEGOs in the adjacent room. So thankful to be warm and safe inside with my favorite peeps.

“What kind of monster makes a fried calzone only for themselves?” So I made some more today for them.

I was informed I’ve actually made it before, and even made the “real” Italian fried calzone which isn’t super soft like these. I honestly can’t remember these days.

Day 4 of grey chilly rain…

Dinner was steak, baked potato, baked onion and spinach sauteed in bacon fat.
A sunny lemon poppy seed muffin will be a late dessert with tea !

Thanks! I looked at epicurious and used their 50/50 salt/sugar ratio, but I may have overdone the coriander and fennel… time will tell…

Our New Orleans-themed dinner date got cancelled tonight as our babysitter didn’t want to be exposed to our babe’s illness (understandable enough). So after contemplating takeout, I quickly threw together pork and scallop dumplings (from frozen) and black-bean fermented-chili tofu and zucchini over rice. Better than what we could get locally and cheap.

Delayed due to weather until Sunday. Ty.

That’s a very impressive “throw together” meal! :star_struck:
