I think there’s an unwritten rule that says if you’re having a day out to the seaside, you have to have fish & chips for lunch. So we did. I had a shortlist of possible places picked up from internet recommendations. First place we tried was full. Next along was Bamfords. It was empty. Literally. Did folk know something we didn’t? Well, there was only one way to find out.
We both ordered the standard size fish & chips. Good crisp batter on the cod. Decent bit of fish. Chips were OK but only OK. It was all decent enough and ensured our compliance with the unwritten rule.
All that was left was to comply with the other unwritten rule of going to the seaside. So, we popped across the road for cones of soft ice cream
