Beijing Eats - just WOW

The seafood skewers, e.g. tentacles, were huge. Beijing duck as street food?!

Not sure how you can eat the crab on the street, they looked delicious!

Scorpion, maybe my next life!! Lamb brain, curious about that. Glad to see so many lamb dishes there.

On the whole very tempting food in Beijing! THANKS for everything @Google_Gourmet, especially fussy when using internet in China.

We totally enjoyed our time in Beijing. The weather was perfect, the city was green and pretty, people were classy, food was well prepared/reasonably price and the traffic was… incredibly gridlocked bad. Will definitely return next year, difficult decision on which areas to explore next. Thinking of Yunnan, Xian, Sichuan, Shanghai or Canton. Want to hit them all.

The restaurant we visited the first night also serves a complete 24 hour Dim Sum menu. We stopped again to fuel up before we were off to trek the GREAT WALL.

Learned Beijing folks do not drink tea in the morning, howabouthat?? They sip hot water instead. Thus, we didn’t actually “Yum Cha (drink tea)”.

Another quirk. Beijing Dou Fu Fa is not laced with sugar syrup as we barbarians do. Beijing’s is with a savory gravy of wood ear, egg and a type of flower petal. First time having this style, and quite enjoyed it.

Our Beijing friend had a simple bowl of plain Congee, with some pickle strips.

Seems no meal is complete without Duck Blood, in soup. Silk and smooth.

Your usual suspects, very well prepared. Yuba (Bean Curd) wrapped Vegetables, Cheong Fun Beef/Shrimp, Meatballs (very Beefy), and many cups of hot water.

Only one cart making the rounds, offering the aforementioned Pork Blood and Roasted Sweet Potatoes. I SO wanted a sweet potato, but no more stomach capacity.

Off to the GREAT WALL!!

Beautiful scenic gondola ride up to the WALL saves the day.

Take the toboggan ride down, totally exhilarating. Wanted to go right back up and do it again!!
